Emily Westbrook has worked in health care research administration for more than 20 years, including 11 years serving in a research operations leadership role at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI). She has extensive experience leading complex operations across a diverse range of projects and programs.
As KPWHRI’s director of Research Operations and Programs, Emily oversees more than 100 professional staff who are responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the institute’s research programs.
As director of KPWHRI’s Center for Accelerating Care Transformation (ACT Center), she is responsible for program operations, including budget management, staff oversight, and strategic planning. She also leads the ACT Center’s advanced analytics portfolio, which is part of the center’s learning health system work in partnership with Kaiser Permanente Washington. She has been a key contributor on several learning health system projects over the years, including the implementation of community resource specialists systemwide and an ongoing effort to co-design an approach to universal social health screening.
She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Seattle University and a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Washington.
