The Society for Implementation Research Collaboration’s 5th Biennial Conference will explore the intersection of research, policy, and practice.

The 5th Biennial Society for Implementation Research Collaboration (SIRC) conference, “Where the Rubber Meets the Road:  The Intersection of Research, Policy, and Practice,” will take place on September 13-14, 2019 at the University of Washington in Seattle. Pre-conference workshops will occur on September 12.

Aiming to explore real-world impact of recent advances in the growing field of implementation science, this year’s event will kick off with a plenary presentation by Arthur C. Evans Jr., PhD, an internationally recognized speaker and CEO of the American Psychological Association.  Dr. Evans will discuss knowledge and ideas about implementation and reflect on his research and practice experience with behavioral health care policy, social justice, and service delivery.

SIRC’s biennial conference provides researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and students an opportunity to convene, share innovations and ideas, and learn from one another.

Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI) faculty, staff, and their collaborators will present during three breakout sessions on the following topics:

  • Supporting evidence-based cardiovascular disease prevention in primary care, from the EvidenceNOW Healthy Hearts Northwest initiative, with KPWHRI Senior Investigator Michael L. Parchman, MD, MPH;

  • A mixed methods study on how policy mandates for evidence-based practices filter into clinical routines (preliminary results), with KPWHRI Research Associate Lorella Palazzo, PhD, and KPWHRI Associate Investigator Cara C. Lewis, PhD; and

  • The Instrument Review Project, with Cara C. Lewis, PhD, and KPWHRI Research Specialists and SIRC Student Investigators Network of Expertise members Caitlin Dorsey and Kayne Mettert.

Dr. Lewis, co-founder of SIRC and a past president, will also lead an open working meeting to advance an implementation mechanisms research agenda for the Mechanisms Network of Expertise.

“Where the rubber meets the road” will also introduce representatives from the newly launched Norwegian Implementation Science Network, and wrap-up with a panel discussion by experts representing five countries.

Founded in 2015, SIRC membership is open to anyone interested in implementation of evidence-based interventions.

The Society for Implementation Research Collaboration is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists, and this conference is eligible for Continuing Education credits.

Registration and conference information is available on the SIRC website.
