Arterburn presents on obesity to state health care authority and National Academies

David Arterburn, MD, MPH, a Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI) senior investigator, is presenting regionally and nationally about his work on safe, effective ways to treat obesity. On April 19, he will speak at the Washington State Health Care Authority about shared decision-making around bariatric surgery, including at Kaiser Permanente Washington. The Health Care Authority is the largest purchaser of health care in our state. Also presenting is Neely Williams, MDiv, EdD, a collaborator on KPWHRI obesity research.

Arterburn, who is also a Washington Permanente Medical Group physician, spoke to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine on April 4. He presented at a workshop on body mass index, body fat distribution, and other measures of weight, obesity, and health. The workshop is part of a series on the science of measurements for obesity.

Arterburn also spoke in March at the spring meeting of the Washington state chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. At this event, he talked about moving the needle on bariatric surgery costs and coverage.​​​​​​​ 

Rosenberg joins journal editorial board

Dori Rosenberg, PhD, MPH, a KPWHRI associate investigator, is now a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Physical Activity & Health. Rosenberg was invited to join the board based on her outstanding research in the areas of cardiovascular and brain health and physical activity interventions for older adults.

Matson and Glass speak on behavioral intervention technologies

KPWHRI Collaborative Scientist Tessa Matson, PhD, MPH, and Associate Investigator Joe Glass, PhD, MSW, presented in April to the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies. Matson and Glass spoke as part of the center's webinar series on digital mental health, presenting their framework for designing trials that evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of digital behavioral health interventions.
