Bobb receives emerging leader award

Jennifer Bobb, PhD, associate biostatistics investigator at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI), was recognized by the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies for significant methodological and applied contributions to the field of environmental biostatistics as well as for impactful research to improve outcomes of people with substance use disorders. 

McEvoy represents KPWHRI in STAT Madness

Linda McEvoy, PhD, senior investigator at KPWHRI, had an entry in the annual bracket-style competition for the year's most impactful study from the health and medicine news site STAT. McEvoy's study with colleagues at University of California San Diego investigated the basis for the link between hearing loss and dementia risk. It faced tough competition from a University of Michigan group, whose paper advanced to the next round. Congratulations to the McEvoy team!​​​​​​​ 

Glass speaks at addiction science institute

In February, Joe Glass, PhD, MSW, KPWHRI associate investigator, gave an invited talk in the Distinguished Speaker Series of the University of Southern California Institute for Addiction Science. His presentation was titled "Designing and implementing health care interventions to improve access to care for substance use disorder."​​​​​​​ 

Green presents to Kaiser Permanente Medical School

KPWHRI Senior Investigator Bev Green, MD, MPH, was invited to present at a March webinar for the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine Health Systems Science Department. Green, who is a faculty member of the school, gave a talk titled "Blood pressure checks and diagnosing hypertension."​​​​​​​ 

Jackson featured in national profile

In February, the Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Consortium — which works with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to develop vaccines and other therapies against infectious diseases — featured a profile of Lisa Jackson, MD, MPH, KPWHRI senior investigator. Jackson answered questions about leading the Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit at KPWHRI. 

Lee speaks about ACT Study eye research

KPWHRI Affiliate Investigator Cecilia Lee, MD, MS, spoke at events for the International Conference on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Diseases in Lisbon, Portugal in March. Lee talked about big data applications in ophthalmology and Alzheimer’s disease at a preconference symposium on Exploring the Brain-Eye Connection and Beyond, and she presented at the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation Diagnostics Accelerator Investigator Day. Lee's work includes research for the Adult Changes in Thought (ACT) Study.
