Levitz and Kuo have top article of 2023
The most-viewed 2023 article in JMIR Cancer was by Carly Levitz, MPH, with coauthor Elena Kuo, PhD, MPH. Levitz is an evaluation and learning associate and Kuo is a senior evaluation and learning consultant at the Center for Community Health and Evaluation at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI). The paper, described in a March KPWHRI news story and video, is "Using text messages and fotonovelas to increase return of home-mailed colorectal cancer screening tests: Mixed methods evaluation." Coauthors were Monica Guo, Esmeralda Ruiz, Evelyn Torres-Ozadali, Rena Brar Prayaga, and Anne Escaron.
Williamson speaks at international statistics meeting
KPWHRI Assistant Biostatistics Investigator Brian Williamson, PhD, was invited to present at the Institute of Mathematical Statistics International Conference on Statistics and Data Science in Lisbon, Portugal, in December. Williamson spoke at the session on “Inference for Machine Learning Interpretation” about his work on risk factors, measured over time, for suicide attempt.
Coley speaks on AI ethics
In December, KPWHRI Associate Biostatistics Investigator Yates Coley, PhD, spoke at the 65th annual American Society for Hematology conference in San Diego. Coley's invited talk was in a session on "AI in Hematology: Where Do You Stand in 2023" and was titled "Artificial Intelligence Ethics: More Complex Than What You Think.”
