Rosenberg records lecture for geroscience training program
In June, KPWHRI Senior Investigator Dori Rosenberg, PhD, MPH, recorded a lecture for the Geroscience Education and Training (GET) Network, which is funded by the National Institute on Aging and educates medical and graduate students about geroscience-guided therapies and how to translate them into routine care. Geroscience is the study of how aging increases the risk for chronic diseases. Rosenberg’s lecture, “Designing Multicomponent Interventions in Geroscience,” was recorded as part of the network’s Certificate in Geroscience Research program. Her talk described why multicomponent behavioral interventions are relevant to geroscience, how to apply behavioral science theory in such interventions, and what to consider in translational research design.
Allen and Lozano serve as panelists at AcademyHealth annual meeting
The AcademyHealth 2026 Annual Research Meeting in Seattle in June included 2 panel presentations featuring KPWHRI researchers. Claire Allen, MPH, a collaborative scientist and codirector of KPWHRI’s Center for Accelerating Care Transformation (ACT Center) was part of a panel about pursuing health services research careers outside of traditional academic settings. Senior Investigator and ACT Center Codirector Paula Lozano, MD, MPH, served on a panel that discussed how to build a robust LHS (learning health system) scientist workforce — drawing from her experience as codirector of the Washington LHS E-STAR Center.
Matson, Phillips, and Crawford-Gallagher present at WSAM summit
Three KPWHRI scientists presented at Washington Society of Addiction Medicine (WSAM) Addiction Medicine Summit in June. Collaborative Scientist Tessa Matson, PhD, MPH, gave a talk titled “Inpatient Shared Decision-Making to Support Changing Substance Use.” Research Interventionists Brandi Crawford-Gallagher, LICSW, and Rebecca Phillips, MA, presented in a separate session titled "Implementing Shared Decision-Making Across Hospital, Primary Care, and Behavioral Health Systems."
Williamson chairs session at biometrics society annual meeting
In June, KPWHRI Associate Biostatistics Investigator Brian Williamson, PhD, chaired a student session at the annual meeting for the Western North American Region of the International Biometrics Society. The session was titled “Modern Statistical Methods in Biomedicine and Population Health.”
