The Center for Community Health and Evaluation (CCHE) at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI) was well represented at the annual American Association of Evaluation Conference in Portland, Oregon, in October. KPWHRI Collaborative Scientist Mikael Anne Greenwood-Hickman, MPH, gave a talk at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America. The meeting was held in Seattle in November. Greenwood-Hickman's talk was "Understanding goal setting and behavior change mechanics in older adult sitting reduction."
KPWHRI Senior Scientific Investigator Dori Rosenberg, PhD, MPH, also spoke at the Gerontological Society of America meeting. Her invited talk was on changes in sedentary patterns and health from her Healthy Aging Resources to Thrive (HART) randomized controlled trial. Coauthors on the presentation from KPWHRI were Stefani Florez-Acevedo, Mikael Anne Greenwood-Hickman, Weiwei Zhu, Andrea Cook, David Arterburn, and Bev Green. Rosenberg also spoke about the HART trial in September at the monthly meeting of the King County Falls Prevention Coalition.
Bev Green, MD, MPH, a KPWHRI senior investigator, gave an invited talk at the American Heart Association 2024 Scientific Session in Chicago in November. Green's talk was titled, "Primary care’s impact of health care delivery and outcomes on Life’s Simple 8," meaning the 8 key measures for improving and maintaining heart health.
In October, KPWHRI Senior Investigator Karen Wernli, PhD, presented to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the National Institutes of Health on findings from her NCI-funded digital health work. She also gave a short presentation to the International Agency for Research on Cancer about her new research.
