Dr. Jackson to address state business group on COVID-19

Mike Jackson, PhD, KPWHRI associate investigator and infectious disease epidemiologist, will be among speakers presenting to the Association of Washington Businesses (AWB) COVID-19 Employer Resources Webinar Series on Monday, April 13 from 10 to 11 a.m.  The topic: “COVID-19 Forecast: Big Data, Research & Pandemic Trends.” Other speakers will include Washington State Director for COVID-19 Health System Response Management, retired Navy Vice Admiral Raquel C. Bono, MD. ABW serves as both the state’s chamber of commerce and its manufacturing and technology association. You can register for the webinar here.

Dr. Nelson named ASA fellow

Jennifer Nelson, PhD, KPWHRI senior investigator and director of biostatistics, has been selected as a fellow of the American Statistical Association, an honor given to a select group of scholars who have made outstanding contributions to statistical science. She will be recognized on August 4 at the Joint Statistical Meetings in Philadelphia. 

Dr. Palazzo selected for cancer training institute

Lorella Palazzo, PhD, KPWHRI research associate, was selected to attend the 2020 Training Institute for Dissemination and Implementation Research in Cancer, beginning in March. The TIDIRC is supported by the National Cancer Institute and offers grounding in dissemination and implementation research with a focus across the cancer control continuum.

Dr. Jones presents on financial burden of cancer

 KPWHRI Affiliate Investigator Salene Jones, PhD gave a virtual presentation on a conceptual model of financial burden after cancer diagnosis at the American Psychosocial Oncology Society Annual Conference in March. Among the presentation’s coauthors was KPWHRI Assistant Investigator Nora Henrikson, PhD, MPH.
