Dr. Arterburn and Ms. Williams present on patient engagement
Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI) Senior Investigator David Arterburn, MD, MPH, and community partner consultant Neely Williams, MDiv, with collaborator Karen Coleman, PhD, MS, Kaiser Permanente Southern California, spoke at a webinar for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. The team presented on patient engagement based on their experience leading the PCORnet Bariatric Study. KPWHRI has a video, with transcript, about the study.
Dr. Larson speaks to National Institute on Aging
In July, Eric B. Larson, MD, MPH, spoke about health care system interactions for impactful results at a Grand Rounds webinar. The event was hosted by the the National Institute on Aging IMPACT Collaboratory. The mission of the Collaboratory is expanding capacity for pragmatic clinical trials on interventions to help people with dementia and their caregivers. Dr. Larson is a KPWHRI senior investigator and former KPWHRI executive director and Kaiser Permanente Washington vice president for research and health care innovation.
Dr. Parchman joins panel for Safety Net series
Michael Parchman, MD, MPH, senior investigator at the MacColl Center for Health Care Innovation at KPWHRI, participated in a panel discussion on “What is value and why should we take action in the safety net?” The event was part of the webinar series “Preparing Clinical Value Champions in the Safety Net” from the Taking Action on Overuse team. Joining Dr. Parchman were Scott Cook, PhD, University of Chicago, and George Hoke, MD, University of Virginia Health System.
Dr. Tachibana named journal managing editor
Chris Tachibana, PhD, is now the managing editor of the journal Health Service Research. She will continue working part-time for KPWHRI as a scientific editor. The journal work will include overseeing the manuscript pipeline, coordinating administrative and editorial activities, and assisting the editor-in-chief with issue development, journal awards, and reviewer recognition.
